Job summary

CUHK Business School's Information Technology Office (ITO) seeks a Computer Technician II, titled HPC Support Analyst, to support and maintain HPC clusters for AI workloads and HPC operations within a communal AI infrastructure.

The appointee will advise HPC users, troubleshoot job failures, monitor system health, perform security audits, and collaborate with students and faculty. Appointment is initially a 2-year contract with renewal subject to performance.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in CS or related with good Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 3 years post-qualification experience in HPC or related fields.
• Knowledge of Linux system administration, HPC schedulers and cloud concepts.
• Strong communication in English and Chinese (Putonghua).
• Experience with AI workloads and data centre operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Advise and provide support to HPC users across scheduling, compute, storage, and access-related issues.
• Troubleshoot job failures, scheduler errors, resource constraints, and performance concerns.
• Monitor system health, queues, node status, and service availability.
• Conduct security audits, configure firewalls, and perform maintenance activities.
• Review and apply AI technologies to AI-empowered activities in the School.
• Perform hands-on data centre infrastructure operations.
• Provide consultancy support to students, faculty and stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
