Job description

The Head of Bancassurance will spearhead the strategic growth, development, and management of the Bancassurance business. This role is responsible for driving business plans, maximizing insurance penetration in the bank’s customer base, expanding channels and customer sources, and achieving top-line and bottom-line targets. The ideal candidate will serve as the key strategic liaison between the bank and external business partners, ensuring full compliance with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and Insurance Authority (IA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Channel Strategy: Formulate and execute the long-term Bancassurance strategy to accelerate annualized premium equivalent (APE), revenue, and market share.
• Market Expansion: Identify and capture emerging market opportunities in Hong Kong and collaborate with sister companies with the Group to fulfill customer insurance needs.
• Commercial Negotiation: Lead negotiations for distribution agreements, commission structures, and Service Level Agreements.
• Joint Marketing & Campaigns: Co-create and drive target-driven sales campaigns, financial planning initiatives, and customer activation programs.
• Sales Transformation: Establish robust training, onboarding, and digital enablement frameworks to upskill the bank’s front-line relationship managers (RMs).
• Digital Bancassurance: Drive digital transformation initiatives to integrate insurance purchasing paths into the bank’s digital and mobile banking platforms.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all sales processes, marketing materials, and operations strictly adhere to the guidelines set by the Insurance Authority (IA) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA).
• Conduct Risk Management: Implement rigorous risk controls to ensure the Fair Treatment of Customers (FTC) and prevent mis-selling.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline. An MBA or professional qualifications (e.g., CFP, CFA, FLMI) is highly preferred.
• 10-12+ years of progressive experience in Bancassurance, Wealth Management, or Partnership Distribution within the Hong Kong financial services sector, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
• Passed Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination (IIQE Paper I, II, III, and V). Qualified as RO for business.
• Proven track record of managing large-scale joint ventures or complex commercial partnerships.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and data-driven mindset to evaluate channel performance and market trends.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua
