The Group Talent Development Director is responsible for shaping, implementing, and continuously enhancing the Group’s talent development strategy across the organization. The role ensures strong alignment among leadership development, workforce planning, performance management, learning ecosystems, and succession planning outcomes. The position requires proven team leadership experience, knowledge of the China market, and the ability to operate effectively within a global matrix organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the Group Talent Development strategy, ensuring it supports enterprise priorities and evolving business needs.
- Develop a scalable talent development operating model spanning functions, regions, and business units.
- Ensure global frameworks (learning journeys, career architecture, succession readiness) are implemented consistently while enabling local customization.
- Lead design and governance of leadership programs (e.g., executive / senior leadership, high-potential initiatives).
- Strengthen succession planning readiness through structured development interventions.
- Partner with HRBP and business leaders to embed development plans tied to performance, capability gaps, and future role requirements.
Learning Ecosystem & Change Management
- Oversee the group’s learning and development ecosystem, including internal academies, learning content strategy, and learning pathways.
- Establish measurement and evaluation approaches (e.g., skill adoption, program impact, internal mobility).
- Drive change management to increase adoption and effectiveness of learning initiatives.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and develop a team of talent development professionals and managers.
- Build strong working relationships with business leadership, and regional HR counterparts.
- Serve as the Group Talent Development representative in enterprise forums, driving alignment and consistency across matrixed teams and functions.
- Own program governance, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
- Manage learning budgets and vendor relationships in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure compliance with internal frameworks and any relevant regional requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, with a strong foundation in talent management and organizational development.
- 18+ years progressive experience in HR/ Talent development/Learning with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven team leadership experience: building high-performing teams, coaching leaders, and managing complex stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrated China market exposure. Experience working with China HR and/or business leaders; understanding of regional talent development needs and organizational dynamics.
- Proven track record of designing or transforming talent development strategy and leadership programs with measurable impact.
- Strong analytical skills: ability to define KPIs, evaluate program outcomes, and translate insights into action.
- Experience with leadership assessment tools and talent data analytics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
