A sizeable, well-established conglomerate with diversified businesses across Hong Kong and Mainland China is seeking a seasoned Head of Learning & Development to lead and elevate its group-wide training agenda. Based in the Hong Kong headquarters and reporting directly to the Group's top leadership, the successful candidate will manage a small L&D team (Manager + 2 Officers) and drive strategic talent development for a 300-employee Hong Kong office, while supporting ad-hoc initiatives across Mainland China.
Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, diagnosing organisational needs and proposing year‑long development roadmaps aligned with business priorities.
Oversee both external and internal training delivery:
Source, evaluate, and manage external consultants for specialised programmes such as leadership, AI literacy, and executive development.
Guide the in‑house L&D team in delivering communication, customer service, and business skills training for junior and mid‑level staff.
Design and coordinate a portfolio of team development activities and offsite engagements that strengthen collaboration, communication, and cross‑departmental alignment.
Lead end‑to‑end programme management, including needs analysis, proposal planning, budgeting, scheduling, quality control, and post‑training evaluation.
Collaborate with Mainland China teams to support PRC‑based functions, including occasional day trips for onsite training or project execution.
Support group‑level ad‑hoc initiatives driven by senior executives, including newly launched business units, openings, and transformation projects.
Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external L&D service providers to ensure impactful and innovative learning solutions.
QualificationsAt least 15 years of experience in Learning & Development or HR with a strong training delivery focus; exposure to conglomerates, property, fashion retail, or large‑scale corporate environments is advantageous.
Solid experience designing and implementing training solutions for diverse employee groups from frontline to senior leadership with proven capability to partner with Mainland China teams.
Strong vendor management capabilities and an established network of L&D, leadership, and corporate training providers.
Confident, mature communicator with the credibility to engage senior stakeholders and influence business leaders.
Language requirements:
Written: Strong proficiency in both English and Chinese.
Spoken: Fluent Cantonese, English andMandarinat a professional, training-delivery level (business conversational).
Resourceful, structured, and proactive, able to thrive in a dynamic environment with shifting business priorities.
