Job summary

Cathay Pacific is seeking a senior Quality Leader to shape governance, assurance capability, and supplier oversight supporting safe, secure, and reliable operations across Cathay Group airlines. You will lead audits, strengthen risk-based performance measures and develop auditor capability through training and assessment.

Your role includes managing the biennial IOSA program, coordinating contracting, logistics and conformance reporting while supporting subsidiaries’ audits.

Qualifications

  • Lead Auditor qualification is required; IOSA knowledge is desirable.
  • 5+ years in senior quality/ops roles in airline industry preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems and Lean principles.

Job description

Role Introduction

Reports to: Head of Group Quality

Shape the quality governance, assurance capability and supplier oversight that support safe, secure and reliable operations across Cathay Group airlines. You will oversee the operational supplier quality management framework, helping operational and non-operational departments maintain appropriate standards, contractual protections, audit records and responses to safety occurrences.

Combining strategic oversight with hands-on assurance, you will lead audits, strengthen risk-based performance measurement and develop auditor capability through briefings, training, qualification and assessment. You will also manage Cathay Pacific Airways' biennial International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), coordinating contracting, logistics and conformance reporting while supporting relevant audits across Cathay subsidiaries.

Through close partnership with operational teams, Procurement and Aircraft Trading, regulators and external assurance bodies, you will turn quality requirements into effective everyday practice. Your leadership will help Cathay maintain professional excellence while protecting customers, colleagues and the integrity of its operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational supplier quality management framework across Cathay Group airlines, covering applicable standards, contractual status, audit and inspection records, supplier-attributable safety occurrences and risks to people safety
  • Partner with operational and non-operational departments to define, document and maintain appropriate standards, duty-holder accountabilities and complete, current supplier quality information
  • Oversee supplier pre-assessment, audit governance and departmental implementation, providing guidance and assurance that agreed systems, processes and outcomes remain effective
  • Review supplier contracts and coordinate with Procurement and Aircraft Trading to establish appropriate quality and safety protections within supplier management processes
  • Assure ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, liaising with the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department on supplier performance and continuously improving the Operational Quality System
  • Conduct Consolidated Port Audits, Group-level internal audits, supplier audits and auditing services for wholly owned subsidiaries in accordance with your qualification level and applicable service agreements
  • Establish risk-based performance measures, recommend quality assurance resources and identify opportunities to reduce costs arising from operational quality failures or poor performance
  • Build quality capability by managing role-specific briefings, initial and recurrent auditor training, auditor qualification and periodic assessments, while developing contract-auditing workshops for Lead Auditors
  • Manage the biennial International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit, including contracting, planning, logistics, internal conformance reporting and continued listing on the IOSA registry, while supporting subsidiaries’ International Air Transport Association Safety Audit for Ground Operations audits
  • Represent the company and department at relevant meetings, deputise for the Head of Group Quality when required, undertake extensive duty travel and deliver other assigned projects in accordance with company policies
Requirements
  • Tertiary qualification, Lead Auditor qualification, Dangerous Goods awareness qualification. An International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit Auditor qualification is desirable
  • 7 to 10 years of operational experience in the airline industry, preferably within ground operations or flight operations. 5 to 7 years of experience in a management role. 5 years of strategic supply management and/or quality management experience
  • Excellent understanding of airline ground operations and flight operations. Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and awareness of Lean principles.
  • Experienced quality practitioner with excellent knowledge of the quality assurance discipline.
  • Experienced supply management professional with practical contractual experience gained in Hong Kong and overseas
  • Excellent computer and information technology literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and database use
  • Excellent standard in spoken and written English
  • Polished interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, influence and work effectively with people at all levels. Excellent negotiation, management, planning and organisational skills. Strong problem-solution and analytical capabilities
  • Excellent database management and system implementation management skills
  • Able to undertake extensive duty travel
