Job summary

Caliber8 Recruitment is sourcing a GM Marine Operations to be based in Hong Kong. This senior role requires oversight of a large oil tanker fleet, working closely with Masters, owners and charterers to optimise performance and minimise delays.

The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive seagoing experience at Master level, strong leadership, and a proven track record in maritime operations management within a busy port environment.

Job description

We have been tasked by a reputable shipping company to source for a GM Marine Operations to be based in Hong Kong. This is a senior leadership role where you must have had experience overseeing over 50 oil tankers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee marine operations across the managed fleet.
• Provide operational guidance and support to Masters and vessel teams.
• Monitor vessel movements, port calls, cargo operations and overall operational performance.
• Coordinate with owners, charterers, agents and terminals to resolve operational issues and minimise delays.
• Oversee voyage planning, vessel readiness, bunkering and port operations.
• Monitor operational KPIs, delays, off-hire and vessel performance.
• Work closely with Technical, Crewing, HSSEQ and Commercial teams to ensure smooth vessel operations.
• Support the management of operational emergencies and critical situations.
• Ensure vessels operate in line with company procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
• Lead and develop the Marine Operations team and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Master Mariner / Class 1 Deck Officer qualification preferred.
• Strong seagoing experience, ideally to Master level.
• 10+ years of maritime experience with significant shore-based operational experience.
• Strong knowledge of vessel operations, port/cargo operations and maritime regulations.
• Experience working with Masters, owners, charterers and agents.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision‑making skills.
