Job summary

FWD Group seeks a seasoned executive to lead global HNW underwriting across Asia, the Middle East, Bermuda and additional markets. You will own the underwriting strategy, risk appetite and operating model to support sustainable APE and VNB growth while maintaining mortality and profitability targets.

You will partner with Distribution, Product, New Business, Case Management, Operations and Risk to establish FWD as a leading first-tier HNW carrier for complex cases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of life insurance underwriting experience with significant HNW/UHNW exposure.
• At least 5 years in regional or global leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of HNW products, reinsurance structures, underwriting governance and market dynamics across Asia and international markets.
• Proven track record of building underwriting teams and operating models that improve service and portfolio quality.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute the global HNW underwriting strategy, operating plan and capability roadmap in line with growth priorities.
• Set underwriting appetite, technical standards and service objectives to achieve APE, VNB, margin and portfolio quality targets.
• Monitor mortality, claims, market trends and translate insights into underwriting and product actions.
• Provide senior oversight for complex jumbo, non-standard and cross-border HNW/UHNW cases.
• Establish consistent standards across all issuing entities and hubs; lead escalation and referral processes.
• Build and lead a high-performing global underwriting team with clear accountability and service standards.
• Implement an integrated operating model with effective case allocation and follow-the-sun support.
• Drive automation, data analytics and digital underwriting capabilities to improve turnaround times and adviser experience.
• Manage relationships with reinsurers and partners; shape product design and pricing assumptions.
