Job summary

BBVA Hong Kong seeks an experienced professional to support senior bankers in Asia across the Global Institutional Business. You will help prepare client presentations, coordinate meetings, and conduct market analysis to spot opportunities for institutions in the Greater China region.

The role requires strong analytical, communication and coordination skills, with English fluency and a client-oriented mindset. Exposure to BBVA product capabilities across institutional segments is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related discipline.
• Master’s degree, CFA qualification or professional certification is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of banking and capital markets products and services.

• Support senior bankers across Global Institutional Business in Asia, covering Public Sector, Banks, Asset Managers and more.
• Assist day-to-day client coverage: prepare presentations, briefing materials, and coordinate senior management meetings.
• Conduct client, sector and market analysis to identify opportunities and support client strategies.
• Coordinate opportunities across product teams to deliver BBVA’s full value proposition.
• Support transaction execution, onboarding and client initiatives with risk, legal and compliance teams.
• Monitor market developments and macro trends in Asia to provide actionable intelligence.
• Assist in seminars, trainings, and strategic client engagement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support senior bankers across the Global Institutional Business franchise in Asia, covering Public Sector, Banks, Asset Managers, Insurance Companies and Financial Sponsors.
• Support day-to-day client coverage activities, including the preparation of client presentations and briefing materials, as well as the coordination and follow-up of senior management meetings, client visits and business trips.
• Conduct client, sector and market analysis to identify potential business opportunities and support senior bankers in developing client strategies and account plans.
• Coordinate business opportunities across product teams to deliver BBVA’s full value proposition, including Financing, Global Markets, Transaction Banking, Sustainability and Advisory solutions.
• Support transaction execution and client initiatives, coordinating with internal stakeholders including Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, Onboarding/KYC and relevant product teams.
• Monitor client activity, market developments and relevant macroeconomic and regulatory trends across Asia, providing actionable market intelligence to the GIB team.
• Support the preparation and coordination of seminars, training sessions, industry events and other strategic client engagement initiatives.

Job Specifications

Qualification & Experience

• Experience: Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Corporate & Investment Banking, Financial Institutions, Public Sector Coverage, Global Markets, Financing or a related area. Previous exposure to institutional clients in Asia would be an advantage.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related discipline. A Master’s degree, CFA qualification or other relevant professional certification would be an advantage.
• Product Knowledge: Good understanding of banking and capital markets products, with exposure to areas such as Global Markets (FX, Rates, Credit, Derivatives and Repo), Financing and Transaction Banking. Ability and willingness to develop a broad understanding of BBVA’s product capabilities across institutional client segments.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to analyse clients, markets and business opportunities and translate information into clear, concise and actionable materials for senior bankers and clients.
• Client Orientation: Strong interest in developing relationships with institutional clients and understanding their strategic and financial needs, with a clear commercial and client-oriented mindset.
• Execution & Coordination: Ability to manage multiple workstreams, coordinate effectively across coverage, product and support teams, and contribute to the timely execution of transactions, onboarding processes and client initiatives.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality presentations and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Language Skills: Fluent English is required. Mandarin would be an advantage, particularly given the importance of Greater China within BBVA’s institutional franchise in Asia. Additional Asian languages would also be considered an advantage.
• Personal Attributes: Highly motivated, collaborative, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong intellectual curiosity, commercial awareness and adaptability, and a genuine interest in developing a long-term career within BBVA’s Global Institutional Business.
