Private Advertiser is seeking an experienced General Manager to establish and run its first Hong Kong retail location. You will oversee site selection, fit-out, staffing and launch, then drive operations and growth in a high-value market.

You will report to regional leaders, build a strong local team, manage high-value inventory and ensure AML/CTF compliance. A hands-on, entrepreneurial leader will thrive here.

Formación

• 8+ years in luxury, jewellery, gold bullion or high-value retail with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Hands-on experience opening at least one retail location from scratch (site selection, fit-out, staffing, launch).
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong’s retail landscape and key shopping districts.
• Experience managing high-value inventory with cash handling and security procedures.
• Excellent people management skills with a track record of hiring and leading retail teams.
• Fluent in Cantonese and English; Mandarin is a plus.

About Us

We are a well-established international company in the high-value retail sector, and we are entering an ambitious new phase of growth. Hong Kong is a cornerstone of that plan, and we are in the process of opening our first retail location in the city. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on General Manager to help us set it up and run it successfully.

The Role

This is a pivotal role in our growth plans. Working closely with our regional leadership team, you will be our key person on the ground in Hong Kong, helping to launch, operate and grow our business in one of Asia’s most important retail markets. What we build here will set the blueprint for future expansion across the region.

We are starting fresh, with no existing store or local team. You will help take the business from a blank page to opening day and beyond: securing and fitting out the site, hiring and developing the team, putting processes in place, and then running day-to-day operations. This is a very hands‑on role, and you will be as comfortable on the shop floor as you are meeting landlords, banks or senior management.

It is challenging, fast-paced and highly visible. You will report to senior leadership and have real autonomy and ownership. For a builder who thrives on responsibility, this is a rare chance to create something from the ground up and leave a lasting mark.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the on‑the‑ground setup of our Hong Kong retail location, working with our regional team on site selection, fit‑out, security arrangements, vendor and contractor coordination, and opening preparations.
• Build an effective local team: hire, train, motivate and lead staff, and create a strong culture of performance, service and integrity.
• Contribute to and execute local business plans, sales strategies and revenue targets
• Run day‑to‑day store operations, including inventory management, cash and stock controls, and secure storage and security procedures.
• Ensure the Hong Kong operation meets all local regulatory and licensing requirements, including AML/CTF and KYC obligations, working with our group compliance team.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, landlords, banks, logistics and security partners.
• Monitor market trends and competitor activity in Hong Kong’s high‑value retail market.
• Prepare regular performance, financial and operational reports for management.

Requirements

• Hong Kong Permanent Resident or eligible to work in Hong Kong without sponsorship.
• 8+ years’ experience in luxury, jewellery, gold bullion or other high‑value retail, including at least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Hands‑on experience opening at least one retail location from scratch, covering site selection, fit‑out, staffing and launch; experience with multiple openings is a strong advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Hong Kong’s retail landscape and key shopping districts.
• Experience managing high‑value inventory, including stock control, cash handling and security procedures.
• Familiarity with Hong Kong’s regulatory landscape, particularly AML/CTF and KYC requirements.
• Excellent people management skills, with a track record of hiring, training and leading retail teams.
• Entrepreneurial and hands‑on: you take initiative, solve problems on the spot and enjoy building something new.
• An established network in Hong Kong’s luxury or high‑value retail sector is a strong plus.
• Fluent in Cantonese and English; proficiency in Mandarin is an advantage.
