Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc is seeking a high-calibre Full Stack Engineer to join the Hong Kong Structured Products Technology Team. The role focuses on building strategic Equity Derivatives trading infrastructure with emphasis on AI-enabled development and modern best practices.

You will own end-to-end projects, collaborate with structuring and sales desks, and modernize tools from Excel/VBA to Java/Kotlin or equivalent frameworks, while strengthening controls and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• Excellent AI-enabled development experience with OO or functional styles in Java and Kotlin.
• A passion to drive the adoption of modern best practices including test driven development, devops, agile methodologies.
• Working in a team of developers in a complex global environment.
• Ability to own the entire project cycle and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
• Motivation towards understanding further the Equity Derivatives business and its tooling.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team of 8 developers within the HK Structured Products Technology Team to build strategic Equity Derivatives trading infrastructure.
• Excel/VBA and related tools may be analyzed and redesigned in Java/Kotlin or modern frameworks.
• Improve controls over Equity Derivatives trading and operations tools; re-design or re-write where needed.
• Manage end-to-end projects including requirements gathering, development, UAT, deployment, and user support.
• Interact regularly with structuring or sales desk and work on local and global platforms.

Job description

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Full Stack Engineer.

In this role you will:

• The candidate will work in a team of 8 developers within the Hong Kong Structured Products Technology Team to help build strategic Equity Derivatives trading infrastructure
• The candidate is expected to excel in AI-enabled development and have a proven track record of writing high-quality code, following modern best practices, and proposing solutions to a technical and business audience.
• They will additionally work at improving controls over the Equity Derivatives trading and/or operations tools, which will involve analyzing, understanding existing tools (Excel/VBA) and either re-design/re-write them in a target framework in Java/Kotlin or partially re-design them to start the path towards demise
• They will manage end to end projects, such as requirement gathering, development, UAT, deployment and supporting users post deployment
• Developers are required to have regular interaction with the structuring or sales desk and will work on local and global tactical and semi strategic platforms

To be successful you will need:

• Excellent AI-enabled development experience with OO or functional programming styles in Java and Kotlin
• A passion to drive the adoption of modern bast practices including test driven development, devops, agile methodologies
• Working in a team of developers in a complex global environment
• Ability to own the entire project cycle and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders
• Motivation towards understanding further the Equity Derivatives business
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English
• Experience of equity derivatives products either Derivative Pricing or Risk Management
• Knowledge of containerisation / orchestratration platforms such as Kubernetes would be advantageous
• Experience of using noSql databases such as MongoDB
• Up to date strategic skills in event-driven architecture and web services
