Job summary

Buddy.ninja is seeking a founding mechanical engineer to own the physical design of our smart pet devices, from collar to home devices, across the product lineup. You will decide how devices are built, tested, and prepared for mass production, with strong emphasis on durability, safety, and production readiness.

You will collaborate with electronics, firmware, and design teams to ensure seamless integration, enabling a robust hardware roadmap and leadership in the APAC pet-tech market.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering and product development for physical consumer products.
• Strong 3D CAD skills and ability to create production-ready drawings and STEP files.
• Strong eye for industrial design, ergonomics, and product finish.

Responsibilities

• Own the mechanical architecture of Buddy's smart pet devices and accessories from collar to roadmap.
• Set mechanical engineering standards including CAD structure, GD&T, tolerances, and design reviews.
• Build reusable mechanical platforms to cut cost and speed development across products.
• Select materials and processes to meet durability, safety, cost, and aesthetics targets.
• Lead integration with electronics including PCB packaging, connectors, charging interfaces, and antennas.
• Plan and run mechanical validation and reliability testing; feed results back to design changes.
• Oversee move to mass production with DFM reviews, tooling, BOM costing, and quality plans.
• Collaborate with founding team to shape hardware roadmap and product decisions.
