Founded in 1884, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) is a world-class racing club that acts continuously for the betterment of our society. The Club has a unique integrated business model, comprising racing and racecourse entertainment, a membership club, responsible sports wagering and lottery, and charities and community contribution. C&C works with the Government, NGOs, and community partners to proactively identify root causes of social issues and address them through innovative approaches and cross-sectoral collaboration.
The Institute of Philanthropy was established in September 2023 through a seed grant of HK$6.8 billion (US$870 million) from The Hong Kong Jockey Club and its Charities Trust. Established as an independent “think‑fund‑do” tank for China, Asia and beyond, IoP is dedicated to promoting philanthropic thought leadership and enhancing sector capabilities at local, regional and global levels in collaboration with fellow funders. It seeks to provide an Asia-based platform bringing global stakeholders together to promote the betterment of societies everywhere.
In order to enhance the national and global presence of the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP) in the increasingly competitive space for philanthropic thought‑leadership and to communicate the unique position and commitments of IoP, the job holder serves as Deputy Secretary General – Strategic Communications of IoP and is responsible for spearheading, developing and executing holistic communication strategies with a view to optimising IoP’s core mission. For the Department’s day-to-day operations, the job holder will lead a team (comprising of one Assistant Executive and two staff‑grade members) to engage and manage agency(ies), as well as work with internal divisions and departments of the Club (that undertake certain core management functions for IoP). The job holder will oversee stakeholder engagement and management, publications, social media and other electronic means; and is in overall charge of strategic communications for IoP.
The job holder’s primary focus is on IoP, and is also expected to co‑ordinate and support the Founding Funders of IoP (namely the Club and its Charities Trust) to curate and execute holistic and integrated communication strategies to maximise the reach and impacts.
