Job summary

Hospital Authority - Kowloon Central Cluster is recruiting an Engineering Officer to supervise a group of technical staff in maintaining central air-conditioning and electrical systems at United Christian Hospital. The role requires relevant Engineering qualifications, 3+ years of supervisory experience, and knowledge of English/Chinese.

The position is based at United Christian Hospital with responsibilities including testing, commissioning, and liaising with external contractors.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 5 years relevant working experience as skilled worker in Building/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• Completed a recognized Technician Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years’ site supervisory experience after fulfilling (1)
• Knowledge of English and Chinese equivalent to Form 3/Secondary 3

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technical staff to perform day-to-day repair and maintenance of central air-conditioning and electrical systems in hospital.
• Provide technical support to daily department projects.
• Attend testing and commissioning of new expansion block building services installation.
• Monitor Building Management System (BMS/CCMS) operations and coordinate with external contractors.
• Attend emergency calls and perform repairs outside normal hours when required.
• Maintain inventories and conduct audits.
• Ensure work safety and proper documentation of activities.
• Liaise with stakeholders to ensure timely project execution.

Salary:HK$ 34,705 - HK$ 40,220 (HGPS point 13 to 16)per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Perform shift duties and be the team-in-charge to lead a group of technical staff in carrying out day-to-day repair, maintenance and improvement works of central air-conditioning system and electrical system in hospital.
2. Provide technical support to daily project works in the Department.
3. Attend new expansion block building services installation testing and commissioning.
4. Attend the hospital’s Building Management System (BMS) / Central Control and Monitoring System (CCMS) for continuous control and monitoring of the Electrical and Mechanical systems and any other systems serviced by the Department.
5. Liaise with parties concerned including external contractors for timely and smooth execution of various works and projects.
6. Attend emergency calls and carry out emergency repair works outside normal working hours when required.
7. Monitor and maintain good inventory control of related stores.
8. Lead internal facility inspection or audit as required.
9. Ensure work safety while carrying out daily works.
10. Perform administrative work including record-taking, report-writing, etc. as required.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Entry Requirement:

1. 1.a) A Certificate in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic/ Hong Kong Polytechnic University/ Hong Kong Technical College/ Hong Kong Technical Institute/ Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education, or equivalent.
2. OR
3. b) 5 years of relevant working experience as skilled worker in the field of Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
4. OR
5. c) Completed a recognized Technician Apprenticeship in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
6. 2. At least 3 years’ site supervisory experience subsequent to fulfilling (1) above.
7. 3. A knowledge of English and Chinese equivalent to Form 3 (before 2012)/Secondary 3 standard.
8. 4. Obtained valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card).

Preferred Attributes:

1. Registered electrical worker, class B(0), as registered in the list of EMSD.
2. Have 5 years' experience in related fields with at least 3 years in supervising level.
3. Holder of Bachelor degree in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent disciplines.
4. Holder of Occupational Safety, Health or Environmental certificate/diploma recognized by HKSAR Government.
5. Experience in the testing and commissioning of mechanical system, central air-conditioning system, BMS/CCMS, or electrical system in hospital.
6. Proficiency in the use of computer software, such as Computer-based Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Autocad, Microsoft Word and Excel.
7. Good command of written and spoken Chinese and English.
