Job summary

Qualifications

• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently; good troubleshooting skills.
• Basic knowledge of Motion Capture and 360-degree Immersive Visualization is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate ACIM’s creative technology facilities and related research infrastructure.
• Provide technical solutions for interactive media, immersive environments, motion tracking, projection, display, sound, and real-time media systems.
• Oversee setup, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting for facilities to ensure reliable operation for research, teaching, public programmes, and events.
• Maintain equipment care and inventory, including inspection, calibration, maintenance, and loan management.
• Assist in planning exhibitions, installations, tours, workshops, and outreach with on-site support for visitors and VIPs.

Engineer in the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media [Ref.: R/289/26]

Duties

The appointee will be responsible for managing the technical facilities for the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media (ACIM) at the School of Creative Media, providing effective solutions for all technical challenges and issues arising from ACIM research projects and activities. Main duties include:

• Manage and operate ACIM’s creative technology facilities, including Motion Capture systems, 360-degree Immersive Visualization systems, audiovisual equipment, media production tools, interactive display platforms, and related research infrastructure;
• Support research projects, exhibitions, installations, and demonstrations by providing technical solutions for interactive media, immersive environments, motion tracking, projection, display, sound, and real-time media systems;
• Oversee setup, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting for creative technology facilities, to ensure reliable operation for research, teaching, public programmes, and special events;
• Maintain and coordinate equipment care and inventory of ACIM facilities and equipment, including regular inspection, calibration, maintenance, repair arrangements, usage records, storage, and loan management;
• Assist in planning and implementing exhibitions, installations, tours, workshops, and outreach activities, including system preparation, live operation, technical demonstrations, and on-site support for visitors, VIP tours, and community engagement events;
• Liaise with ACIM staff, researchers, students, and the School of Creative Media on facilities use, equipment needs, project requirements, scheduling, and technical support matters;
• Monitor developments in creative media technologies and recommend suitable equipment, tools, upgrades, and workflows to support ACIM’s research and artistic activities; and
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Creative Media/New Media or related disciplines with at least 5 years’ professional experience in technical support management;
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
• Good communication, interpersonal skills and troubleshooting skills; and
• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently are required.
• Basic knowledge of Motion Capture and 360-degree Immersive Visualization would be an advantage.
