Eclipse Trading in Hong Kong is seeking an Electronic Trading Risk Control Manager / Senior Manager to join our Risk team. You will oversee the design, monitoring, and effectiveness of trading controls across our Hong Kong operations.

You will collaborate with senior management to embed regulatory obligations into technology controls, review algorithms and connectivity, and ensure controls meet both regulatory and internal standards.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in electronic trading controls, operational risk, front office business control or governance.
• Strong knowledge of electronic trading systems, controls and surveillance concepts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management within a regulated trading environment.

We are actively seeking an Electronic Trading Risk Control Manager / Senior Manager to join our Risk team in Hong Kong. This role will serve as the subject matter expert on electronic trading risk controls, ensuring that the firm’s electronic trading systems operate within a robust risk and governance framework.

You will oversee the design, monitoring, and effectiveness of trading controls, challenge new initiatives, and ensure operational workflows meet both regulatory obligations and internal standards. Coverage will focus on Hong Kong, with growing coverage across Mainland China and Australia.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Support the firm’s electronic trading governance and control framework by partnering with senior management to embed regulatory obligations into technology controls best practices
• Review trading systems, algorithms and exchange connectivity solutions to identify control gaps and regulatory risks
• Evaluate new trading initiatives, algorithms and trading strategies to identify electronic trading risks and ensure proper controls are embedded into the operational workflow before deployment
• Assess potential market misconduct, market manipulation and exchange rule breach risks arising from new trading strategies, products, execution logic and automated workflows
• Review the firm’s trading controls against applicable requirements, including but not limited to: SFC electronic trading rules, short-selling regulations, HKEX Rules, exchange surveillance expectations; and assess the effectiveness of the firm’s trading controls and supervisory frameworks
• Review and enhance the firm's trade surveillance framework, including alert coverage completeness, monitoring parameter calibration, escalation processes and surveillance governance policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain metrics, dashboards and exception reporting to support oversight of electronic trading activities, trading controls and surveillance outcomes
• Review trading system incidents and electronic trading control failures in accordance with the firm’s incident management policy, ensuring remedial controls are embedded into future system design
• Coordinate implementation of regulatory changes (e.g. HKIDR-DM, T+1 settlement)
• Prepare responses to electronic trading system related queries from external parties (Prime Brokers, Exchanges and regulators) by consolidating data and information from Trading, Risk, Technology, Operations and Compliance
• Manages inventory of processes, risks, controls, and associated metrics for risk appetite and limits, reporting violations of compliance or regulatory activities
• Work closely with our Business Development, Trading, Technology and Compliance teams to translate the rule interpretations into clear and practical advice to stakeholders in managing the operational risks

What you offer

• 7+ years of relevant experience electronic trading controls, operational risk, front office business control or electronic trading governance
• Familiarity with trading flows, execution algorithms, electronic trading risks, and automated trading strategies
• Familiarity with market conduct risks, trade surveillance concepts and common market abuse scenarios, including spoofing, layering, wash trading and manipulative trading behaviours
• Knowledgeable and experienced with Hong Kong SFC rules and exchange rules (any broader APAC regulatory experience would be advantageous)
• Comfortable with working in parallel with technology on functional features as well as articulating the concepts and controls to Exchanges and regulators
• Understanding of operational risk framework, control design and effectiveness assessment
• Ability to thrive and make decisions in a fast-paced trading environment and handle pressure effectively
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Good command of spoken and written English
