Job summary

A recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Engineering Design Manager in Hong Kong to manage external consultants and lead engineering design development. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of relevant experience, preferably with site-based exposure, and a recognized degree in a relevant discipline. Strong leadership, communication skills, and knowledge of Hong Kong's local authority processes are essential. Experience in Data Centre projects is preferred. Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with practical site-based experience.
• Strong understanding of Hong Kong local authority process.
• Member of CIBSE/IMechE/HKIE/RPE is highly preferred.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Manage external design consultants and lead internal resources in all aspects of the engineering design development and production of construction issue designs on the project;
• Ensure compliance with project design specifications, and industry standards and statutory code of practice where appropriate;
• Lead project value engineering and buildability reviews;
• Ensure design developed in line with project budgets and conduct regular cost plan reviews;
• Monitor and ensure the design information is of the right quality and meeting the project programme;
• Develop a Design-for-Safety mindset within all project stakeholders.

Requirements

• Recognized Degree in Building Services / Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering or relevant disciplines;
• Member of CIBSE/ IMechE/ HKIE/ RPE or other recognised professional bodies is highly preferred;
• At least 10 years' relevant experience with practical site based experience is required;
• Strong understanding of Hong Kong local authority process;
• Solid knowledge of design software and BIM is desired;
• Excellent motivational and leadership skill;
• Strong communication skill and able to work independently;
• Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadline;
• Experience in Data Centre project preferred.
