Job summary

CMU OmniClear Limited, a leading financial market infrastructure provider in Hong Kong, seeks a Director (Strategy) to lead the end-to-end commercialisation strategy and growth. You will drive market intelligence, assess regulatory shifts, and elevate the company’s brand among institutional investors and regulators.

With 8+ years in well-established financial institutions, you will cultivate international partnerships and shape product roadmaps while working closely with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• University degree in Finance, Business or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in well-established financial institutions, preferably FMI and CSDs.
• Strong understanding of domestic / international bond settlement and payment system operation in HK/ Mainland China is an advantage.
• Acute interpersonal skills with strong marketing awareness and a strategic business perspective.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese is an advantage.
• Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will be considered even if not meeting all requirements.

Responsibilities

CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) is a wholly owned subsidiary of CMU OmniClear Holdings Limited, which is jointly owned by the Exchange Fund (as the majority shareholder) and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (as the minority shareholder). It carries out the operation and business development activities of the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) on behalf of the HKMA. As part of the critical financial market infrastructure in Hong Kong, CMU is a central securities depository (CSD), providing secure and efficient clearing, settlement and custodian services for securities. Director (Strategy)

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Commercialisation & Growth

• Lead the end-to-end commercialisation strategy for the Company, defining clear market approaches, pricing models, and value propositions to drive revenue growth and market share.
• Identify new business opportunities and innovative pathways to strengthen the Company’s competitive position.

2. Market Intelligence & Product Insight

• Spearhead comprehensive market research on domestic and international debt securities markets, providing senior leadership with actionable insights on trends, competitor movements, and regulatory shifts.
• Analyse macroeconomic indicators and bond market dynamics to forecast demand and inform product development roadmaps.

3. Brand Positioning & Thought Leadership

• Assist to elevate the Company’s profile among institutional investors, issuers, and regulators.
• Develop and execute targeted campaigns and thought-leadership initiatives that reinforce the Company’s authority and recognition within the financial community.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & International Expansion

• Cultivate high-level relationships with external stakeholders, including global banks, asset managers, exchanges, and regulatory bodies.
• Drive the establishment of strategic international linkages and alliances to expand the Company’s global footprint and clientele base.

5. Competitive Monitoring & Agility

• Monitor marketplace developments, fintech innovations, and regulatory changes to ensure the Company remains agile and ahead of industry curves.
• Identify risks and opportunities, presenting strategic recommendations to the Management to mitigate threats and capitalise on emerging trends.

Requirements

• University degree in Finance, Business or a related field.
• At least 8 years of relevant experience in well-established financial institutions, preferably financial market infrastructures (FMI) and central securities depositories.
• Strong understanding of domestic / international bond settlement and payment system operation in Hong Kong and Mainland China an advantage.
• Acute interpersonal skills with strong marketing awareness and a strategic business perspective.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; proficiency in Chinese is an advantage.
• Candidates with supplementary experience and qualifications will also be considered, even if they do not meet all of the specified requirements above.

(Candidates with less experience may be considered for an offer of appointment at Associate Director level.)
