Job summary

IT Channel (Asia) Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong, seeks a dedicated DBA to manage enterprise database environments. You will ensure stability, security, and performance while supporting upgrades, migrations, and compliance initiatives.

You will monitor and tune across Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, perform installations and patching, and implement high-availability solutions. English and Chinese communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• 3+ years’ hands-on experience in database administration (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB preferred).
• Experience in backup/recovery, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions (e.g., RAC, Data Guard, clustering).
• Familiarity with vendor collaboration and late-night/off-hour support environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Effective communication skills in English and Chinese; able to work independently and within a team.

Responsibilities

• Database Operations: Monitor, troubleshoot, back up, recover, and tune across multiple DBMS.
• System Maintenance: Install, patch, upgrade, and plan capacity for high availability and DR readiness.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce database security policies and access controls with audit procedures.
• Performance Optimization: Analyze queries, indexing, and bottlenecks; implement improvements.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain technical docs and prepare performance/compliance reports.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with vendors; handle off-hour incidents; liaise with internal teams.
• Project Support: Assist migrations, integrations, and infrastructure enhancements with timely delivery.

Job description

We are seeking a dedicated Database Administrator (DBA) with strong technical expertise in managing enterprise database environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of database systems, while supporting upgrades, migrations, and compliance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Database Operations: Perform daily monitoring, troubleshooting, backup/recovery, and performance tuning across Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB environments.

System Maintenance: Execute database installations, patching, upgrades, and capacity planning to ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.

Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce database security policies, user access controls, and audit procedures in line with IT risk and regulatory standards.

Performance Optimization: Analyze query performance, indexing strategies, and system bottlenecks; recommend and implement improvements.

Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate technical documentation, operational procedures, and prepare regular performance and compliance reports.

Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate with external vendors for support and escalation, including off-hour incident handling; liaise with internal teams to align requirements and project deliverables.

Project Support: Assist in database-related projects such as migrations, integrations, and infrastructure enhancements, ensuring timely delivery and minimal disruption.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in database administration (Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB preferred).

Proven experience in backup/recovery, performance tuning, and high-availability solutions (e.g., RAC, Data Guard, clustering).

Familiarity with vendor collaboration and late-night/off-hour support environments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Effective communication skills in English and Chinese; able to work independently and within a team.

Professional certifications (e.g., OCP, MCSE, Cloud DB) are an advantage.
