Job summary

Securities and Futures Commission seeks a Temporary Assistant Manager - Database Administrator to lead the implementation and ongoing support of a new database platform in Hong Kong. You will administer Oracle databases in production and non‑production environments, perform patching, upgrades, backups and DR, and monitor performance to ensure stability.

You will manage users and security, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, and handle ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• At least 7 years of IT experience with strong database administration background.
• Experience in high availability, disaster recovery, backup and recovery, monitoring, and capacity planning.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
• Knowledge of data governance concepts and scripting in Linux environments.
• Strong vendor and stakeholder management in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement and support a new database platform on an ongoing basis.
• Administer Oracle databases in production and non-production environments, including installation, patching, upgrades, and DR.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and perform performance tuning.
• Manage database users, privileges, roles, and security controls.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure stable operations.
• Undertake ad-hoc tasks or projects as assigned.
