Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team in Hong Kong seeks an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and server software. You will work on racks, networks, routers, switches, and Linux-based systems in a cutting-edge data center environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Contribute and lead deployment, maintenance, and support of data center infrastructure.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting and resolve escalated issues.
  • Test and troubleshoot new server hardware components and designs.
  • Configure and troubleshoot Linux OS-related issues on servers.
  • Provide possible on-call support shifts.

Job description

  • Experience with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
  • Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting one of the following: operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
  • Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods of time, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling and lifting.
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including working weekends, night shifts, holidays and on shift-based schedules as required.
  • Experience with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.

  • Understanding of intermediate OS, PC hardware and networking concepts, tools and protocols.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% and work occasional holiday shifts.
  • Ability to communicate in English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.
