Job Purpose:
Manage new product RFQs and monitor NPI product costs, providing timely, accurate and commercially relevant product costing and analysis to support new business development, business growth and management decision-making.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage new product RFQ costing, ensuring complete, timely and accurate cost submissions that support business opportunity decisions.
- Validate the reasonableness, consistency and accuracy of engineering BOMs, supplier quotations, assembly time, manufacturing assumptions and project investment provided by the RFQ team.
- Develop and communicate product cost models and scenario analyses, including design options, manufacturing location, volume, investment, productivity and commercial assumptions.
- Monitor product costing through each NPI development stage, identify cost gaps and risks, and drive timely corrective actions to achieve the approved product cost target.
- Maintain and update the financial dashboard for new product development, providing transparent reporting and early escalation of significant cost, margin and investment changes.
- Model new business opportunities and provide cost benchmarking to support management evaluation, quotation strategy and negotiation preparation.
- Partner with Purchasing and Sourcing to improve supplier-cost practices, verify competitive pricing and provide continued feedback on material and purchased-part cost assumptions.
- Follow leaders’ direction, promote consistent costing standards and continuously improve RFQ and NPI cost-control processes.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above; a relevant professional qualification in costing, finance or engineering is an advantage.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in the manufacturing industry, with strong exposure to product costing, RFQ and new-product development; supervisory, team-lead or functional-leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of material prices, manufacturing processes and product-cost structures. Competent in developing cost models and analyses for design alternatives, new-product cost and development expenditure. Demonstrated experience in preparing cost benchmarks and decision-support analysis for management, with sound financial and commercial judgement.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, decision-making, leadership and supervisory skills. Effective communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across organizational levels and lead cross-functional discussions. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP product costing, material master data, BOM costing or a comparable ERP costing environment is an advantage. Experience with digitalization, business intelligence tools, data visualization, automation or the practical application of AI in costing and financial analysis is an advantage. Good command of written and spoken English, Cantonese and Mandarin. Results-oriented, organized and able to deliver to deadlines.
