Job summary

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking a CTA(WS) on-site assistant to support survey, inspection, and coordination of building works. You will check drawings, assist in quality control, and report non-conformities under the supervision of the Construction Manager.

Applicants should hold a Certificate in Construction or Building Studies, demonstrate Level 2+ Chinese and English proficiency, and be proficient with Word and Excel.

Qualifications

• Possess a Certificate in Construction or Building Studies from a recognized Hong Kong institution.
• Proficiency in Chinese and English at Level 2 or above as per HKDSE/HKCEE equivalents.
• Proficient in Word and Excel is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist survey and inspection duties to identify defects and compile reports.
• Assist in tests and inspections of structural, building and plumbing works on site.
• Check site safety, environmental protection measures and report non-conformities.
• Review drawings and documents required for construction works.
• Coordinate with Contractors for repairs of defects and rectification progress.
• Update and keep site inspection records and assist in defect rectification.
• Support verification and testing of building materials delivered to site.
• Perform other duties as directed by the CM.

Job description

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited（“the Company” or “China State Hong Kong”）started its construction business in Hong Kong in 1979. The Company engages in building construction and civil engineering works. China State Hong Kong is among the largest construction contractors in Hong Kong, and is approved by the Works Bureau, to be on the List of Approved Contractors (Group C) for Public Works in the five major categories of building and civil engineering works, namely, “Buildings”, “Port Works”, “Roads and Drainage”, “Site Formation” and “Waterworks”.

Qualification And Experience

Possess at least a Certificate in Construction or Building Studies from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University / Polytechnic, the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education or technical institute / technical college, or equivalent which acceptability is subject to CM's confirmation, or equivalent as accepted by the CM;

Meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE is accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 2’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth. Possession of proficient skill in WORD, EXCEL applications is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities

The CTA(WS) is responsible to the CM or other personnel as appointed by the CM for the following duties:

• To assist in the survey and inspection duties to identify defects & compile survey/ inspection reports / records;
• To assist the CM or his representatives in carrying out tests and inspection of structural works, building works and plumbing works on Site;
• To check site safety, security and environmental protection measures performed by contractors and report non-conformities;
• To check drawing and other documents required for the execution of construction works;
• To assist in co-ordination with Contractor for the arrangement of repairs of defects;
• To assist in the reporting of progress and inspecting of defects rectification;
• To assist in updating and keeping of site inspection records;
• To assist in co-ordination with contractor and Estate Management Division etc. for defect rectification after intake of building / flats;
• To assist in the verification checking and testing of building / plumbing materials delivered to Site;
• To perform other duties as directed by the CM.
• Problem-solving and Decision-making – The CTA(WS) must be capable of handling technical problems arising from site difficulties and / or discrepancies in drawings and where appropriate referring such matters to the CM for direction. He shall also be capable of making decisions to resolve simple technical matters that do not require professional expertise;
• The CTA(WS) shall be for exclusive and sole use of the CM and his representatives for any project at the discretion of the CM.
