Job summary

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking a CTA(BSS) to supervise site activities and inspect building services installations. The role requires a Diploma/HC in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and experience in building services inspections.

The successful candidate will liaise with utilities and public stakeholders, review drawings and programmes, and ensure site documentation is up to date. Knowledge of PC applications is preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Higher Certificate in Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience in inspection of building services works preferred.
• Good knowledge of personal computer applications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site supervision and inspection of all building services installations under construction or maintenance.
• Liaise with Utility Undertakings and the public for execution and completion of building services installations.
• Perform routine and ad hoc inspection of building services installations; troubleshoot and record site matters.
• Supervise and monitor site progress, quality and quantity of work; feedback performance to CM.
• Check drawings and programmes against site conditions and contract specifications; keep site drawings updated.
• Take measurements on site and prepare survey drawings as necessary.
• Perform other duties as directed by the CM.

Job description

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (“the Company” or “China State Hong Kong”) started its construction business in Hong Kong in 1979. The Company engages in building construction and civil engineering works. China State Hong Kong is among the largest construction contractors in Hong Kong, and is approved by the Works Bureau, to be on the List of Approved Contractors (Group C) for Public Works in the five major categories of building and civil engineering works, namely, “Buildings”, “Port Works”, “Roads and Drainage”, “Site Formation” and “Waterworks”.

Qualification and Experience:-

The CTA(BSS) shall possess at least a Diploma or Higher Certificate in either Building Services, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from the Hong Kong Polytechnic / Polytechnic University or an institute of vocational education which acceptability is subject to CM's confirmation, or equivalent as accepted by the CM, and with experience in inspection of building services works. Possession of good knowledge in personal computer applications is preferred.

• Duties and Responsibilities - The CTA(BSS) is responsible to the CM or other personnel as appointed by the CM for the following duties:
• To carry out site supervision and inspection of all building services installations under construction and / or maintenance stages;
• To liaise with other parties including Utility Undertakings and the public for the necessary execution and completion of the building services installations;
• To perform routine and ad hoc inspection of all building services installations including trouble shooting and site matter recording
• To supervise and monitor site progress, quality and quantity of work and to feedback the performance of contractors to the CM or his representatives;
• To check sample boards and materials for compliance with specifications and monitor the correct use of materials on Site;
• To check drawings, programme against site condition and contract specifications;
• To keep site drawings and documents updated;
• To take measurement on Site and prepare survey drawings as necessary;
• To perform other duties as directed by the CM.
• Problem Solving and Decision Making - The CTA(BSS) must be able to handle technical problems arising from site difficulties and / or discrepancies in drawing and to refer such matters to the CM for direction. The CTA(BSS) must be able to make decisions on resolving simple technical matters which do not require professional expertise;
• Coordination and Contact - The CTA(BSS) must be able to handle frequent contact with professional / technical / site staff of his team, staff of allied professions in the Housing Department, consultants and contractors;
• The CTA(BSS) shall be for exclusive and sole use of the CM and his representatives for any project at the discretion of the CM.
