Job summary

Smith & Associates is seeking a Component Inspector to sort, repair, and test electronic hardware such as servers, network equipment, and PCs. You will configure products to customer specifications and generate discrepancy reports while providing technical support to customers.

The role involves collaborating with Inventory, Production Control, Supply Chain and Sales to resolve issues, ensuring ESD compliance and adherence to quality, safety and environmental policies. A HS diploma is required.

• Experience collaborating across teams and departments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort, repair, test and troubleshoot electronic hardware including servers, network equipment, computers and spare parts.
• Configure products to customer specifications.
• Generate discrepancy reports regarding hardware and processes.
• Provide customer technical support for IT hardware concerns.
• Interface with Inventory, Production Control, Supply Chain, and Sales to resolve technical issues.
• Address inventory spec issues and update Supply Chain and Inventory Control accordingly.
• Assist Operations and other departments as needed.
• Adhere to ESD requirements in all work areas and follow quality, safety and environmental policies.

Essential Job Duties

• Sort, repair, test and hands-on troubleshoot electronic hardware, including but not limited to servers, network equipment, computers and spare parts
• Configure products to customer specifications
• Generate discrepancy reports
• Provide customer technical support
• Interface with Inventory, Production Control, Supply Chain, and Sales to troubleshoot and resolve any customer’s technical issues
• Address any inventory spec issues and provide updates to Supply Chain, Inventory Control and Management
• Assist Operations team and other departments as needed
• Adhere to and maintain ESD requirements in all required work areas
• Adhere to and maintain all quality, safety and environmental processes and policies

Competencies

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and learn quickly.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail.
• Teamwork experience and strong team player

Experience

• Prior experience with assembling or hands-on testing of IT hardware (specifically Dell or HP).

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Software Requirements

• General knowledge of Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Microsoft Access Database experience a plus
• Experience in SAP or SAP ByDesign is a plus

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
