Oxfam Hong Kong is seeking a Communications Manager (2-year Contract, renewable) to lead branding, corporate messaging and digital initiatives, shaping strategic narratives and strengthening the organisation’s presence. The Communications Manager reports to the Director of Fundraising and Communications and supports in leading the organisation’s branding, corporate messaging, marketing and digital initiatives, as well as event-related communication activities. The role plays a key part in shaping strategic narratives and strengthening the organisation’s overall brand presence. Below are his/her key responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the Communications Team and manage communications plans and budgets to support Oxfam Hong Kong’s goals.
Develop and implement communications strategies to raise awareness, engagement and public support.
Oversee brand management to ensure consistent messaging, tone of voice, visual identity and adherence to brand guidelines.
Manage content development across media, digital, social media, publications, videos and other communication channels.
Lead digital and social media strategies, including channel management, online engagement, community interaction and campaign performance tracking.
Build and maintain media relations, influencer/KOL networks, celebrity contacts and other key external relationships.
Plan and execute marketing communications initiatives, including events, press conferences, campaigns and promotional activities.
Manage crisis communications, reputational risks, sensitive issues, emergency responses and public statements.
Oversee editorial planning and content governance, including editorial calendars, approval workflows, tone of voice and quality control.
Monitor and evaluate communication campaigns using analytics, media monitoring, social media insights and audience feedback.
Work closely with internal teams, including Directorate, Fundraising Teams and Programme Units to develop integrated communications and ensure quality.
Manage external vendors, agencies and production partners to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
Coach and develop team members to strengthen communications capability and performance.
Requirements:
Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Digital Media or related disciplines.
Minimum 15 years’ relevant working experience, of which 8 years on managerial grade.
Proven experience in communications strategy, brand management, digital/social media strategy, crisis communications and editorial planning.
Excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills in English and Chinese.
Strong understanding of media relations, social media platforms, digital campaigns, audience engagement and performance analytics.
Sound judgement and experience in handling sensitive issues, reputational risks, media enquiries and public statements.
Strong leadership, stakeholder management, project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Experience in NGOs, public bodies, advocacy, fundraising or mission-driven organisations would be an advantage.
Practical knowledge of applying AI tools in communications work is preferred.
Excellent command in spoken and written English & Chinese (including Putonghua).
Proficient in computer applications including MS Office and Chinese word processing.
Good understanding of Oxfam’s beliefs and values on poverty alleviation, sustainable development and humanitarian belief. Identification with Oxfam’s mission and vision is a must.
