Hong Kong Housing Society is seeking an Assistant Manager (Social & Elderly Wellness) / Social Worker to support our elderly housing initiatives. You will work with the CES team, coordinate with estate offices and therapists, and collaborate with external partners to deliver comprehensive services for residents in the aging community.

The role requires a degree in Social Work with several years of post-qualification experience, plus strong English and Chinese communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree holder in Social Work with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Administrative and supervisory experience is an advantage.
  • Strong connections with social service providers and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in English and Chinese with excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Community Services Manager in executing social support programmes.
  • Coordinate with estate offices and therapists for facility improvement.
  • Liaise with external partners for collaborative projects and services.
  • Provide professional counselling and case management for needy tenants.

CES - Assistant Manager (Social & Elderly Wellness) / Social Worker

The Housing Society has been serving the role as the “housing laboratory” of Hong Kong. In response to the challenges associated with the ageing population, we have pioneered a number of innovative and forward-looking elderly housing projects and services over the years, including setting up multi-disciplinary social support teams in our own estates; and integrating housing, recreation and healthcare services under one roof in various housing projects under the Senior Citizen Residences Scheme. You are cordially invited to join our professional teams to deliver care and concern services to the elderly, facilitating them to live with dignity and pleasure.

The Job:

  • Assist the Community Services Manager in the execution of social support programmes and review the overall operation and administration of the Caring Engaging Smart (CES) Team at respective estate(s) according to the approved business plans and milestones.
  • Coordinate with the Estate Offices and Occupational therapists for on-going facility improvement and home modification at respective estate(s).
  • Liaise and partner with external parties in the collaborative projects/services at respective estate(s), including but not limited to district social service operators, social enterprises, health service providers, hospitals, educational institutes and governmental departments.
  • Provide professional counseling and case management for needy tenants, expertise timely referrals to social services and closely liaise with NGOs for subsequent follow-up action to prevent crisis.
  • Promote neighborhood support through establishing and developing mutual support networks among tenants and mobilise the volunteer team in rendering the community-building activities at respective estate(s).
  • Assist Community Services Manager to manage the operation of responsible CES cum Elderly Lounge(s) in attaining the designated service outputs and outcomes, and conduct regular home visits and/or telephone concern calls to the needy residents.
  • Coordinate the working groups of district-based collaborative projects and signature events, including but not limited to the services presentation and award ceremonies, festive and thematic carnivals, IT system building and configuration, media interviews and renovation projects.
  • Supervise and coach the subordinates to assure the quality of service, and the team in effective and efficient manner.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor deems appropriate.

The Person:

  • Degree holder or above in Social Work with minimum 5 years’ post qualification working experience in recognized welfare organization of elderly service or community services preferable.
  • With administrative and supervisory experience an advantage.
  • Good connection with various social service providers and district stakeholders, and others as relevant to the operation of the team.
  • Strong team player, mature and able to work independently.
  • Motivated with strategic mindset in service development.
  • Good in both English and Chinese with excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Windows application, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing.
