Job summary

Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) invites a dynamic Business Development Manager to join our team in Hong Kong. You will plan and execute exhibitor recruitment plans across local and international markets, liaise with trade associations and organisers, and coordinate with global sales agents to drive growth.

Deliver high‑quality service to exhibitors and stakeholders while promoting Hong Kong's trade and SMEs.

Qualifications

  • A recognised university degree with at least 5 years’ solid working experience in sales/marketing, events, or project management.
  • Strong knowledge of Hong Kong’s economy, trade and SMEs.
  • Excellent command of English and Chinese (Putonghua); a third language is an advantage.
  • Strong teamwork and leadership, with organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Self‑motivated, detail‑minded with good project management ability.
  • Outgoing and comfortable working with people from different cultures.
  • Innovative, flexible and able to deliver under time/resource pressures.
  • Willing to work overtime and on weekends or public holidays as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute exhibitor recruitment plans in local and international markets to achieve targets.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement exhibition projects.
  • Coordinate with worldwide sales agents to drive exhibitor recruitment.
  • Develop relationships with industry players to identify opportunities and promote exhibitions.
  • Expand the exhibition by recruiting quality exhibitors and promoting new products.
  • Conduct sales and promotional activities as necessary (briefings, roadshows, etc.).
  • Deliver professional and high‑quality customer service to exhibitors and stakeholders.

The HKTDC organises international exhibitions, conferences and business missions to create business opportunities for companies, particularly small and medium‑size enterprises (SMEs), in the mainland and international markets. The HKTDC also provides up‑to‑date market insights and product information via research reports and digital news channels.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the statutory organisation promoting Hong Kong’s external trade, seeks a dynamic, high‑calibre and experienced marketing professional to join our Team.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute exhibitor recruitment plan in local and international markets to achieve and exceed sales and revenue targets;
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including local and overseas trade/industry associations, organisers and co‑organisers, to develop and implement exhibition projects;
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with worldwide sales agents for drive exhibitor recruitment efforts;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with industry players to understand market trends, identify business opportunities, and for promoting their business;
  • Expand and enhance the exhibition by recruiting quality exhibitors and promoting new and interesting products on exhibits;
  • Conduct sales and promotional activities if necessary, such as briefing sessions, sales trips, roadshows, etc.;
  • Deliver professional and high‑quality customer service to exhibitors and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • A recognised university degree with at least 5 years’ solid working experience, preferably with sizeable organisations, in any of the following areas: sales and marketing; trading; exhibition/event organisation; project management; public/corporate relations; or network/relationship building etc.
  • Good understanding of Hong Kong’s economy, trade and business arena covering key industries and markets as well as opportunities and challenges of SMEs
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua; knowledge of a third language will be an advantage
  • A strong team player with excellent leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑minded with good project management ability
  • Outgoing and be appreciate to work with people of different cultures
  • Innovative, flexible and be able to deliver under time and resource pressures
  • Willing to work overtime and on weekends or public holidays as necessary
Remuneration and Benefits

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A competitive remuneration and benefits package, including annual leave, medical and dental benefits, will be offered.
