Job summary

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking a Building Services Co-ordinator for the Kwu Tung North SS R501 project. The role requires full-time site engagement to coordinate building services installations, drawings, and commissioning activities on-site and with various stakeholders.

The successful candidate will lead the building services coordination team, ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems, and supervise on-site installations and testing

Qualifications

• Must be a corporate member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) or an institute of equivalent standing.
• 10 years working experience in the field of building services.
• 5 years’ relevant experience in building services coordination on building projects.

Responsibilities

• Ensure building services installations fit within the allocated space without affecting other installations, the structure, or architectural work.
• Approve and check design drawings for compatible integration of all work and provide design solutions to avoid conflicts.
• Prepare detailed schedules for submission of drawings, data, and samples to the Project Manager and revise schedules as required.

China State Construction Engineering (Hong Kong) Limited (“the Company” or “China State Hong Kong”) started its construction business in Hong Kong in 1979. The Company engages in building construction and civil engineering works. China State Hong Kong is among the largest construction contractors in Hong Kong, and is approved by the Works Bureau, to be on the List of Approved Contractors (Group C) for Public Works in the five major categories of building and civil engineering works, namely, “Buildings”, “Port Works”, “Roads and Drainage”, “Site Formation” and “Waterworks”.

Location: Kwu Tung North Site / Off-site MiC factory visits

Job Duties

• Ensure that every building services installation is installed within the space designed to house it without affecting other building services installations, the building structure or architectural work and in such position and sequence that a neat, logical and tidy appearance of all building services installations is achieved with adequate space for future maintenance and operation.
• Acquit and check of all design drawings for the compatible integration of all the work, including recommending design solutions to eliminate any conflict between the positioning of any work, to provide adequate space for the routing of all such work and for subsequent maintenance of the various installations, and to provide adequate measures for the testing and commissioning of every building services installation with due consideration on engineering design.
• Prepare a detailed schedule showing the proposed dates of submission to the Project Manager of all necessary drawings but not limited to combined co-ordinated building services installation drawings, product data and samples for building services installations, the submission of the schedule to the Project Manager or Project Manager’s delegate for acceptance and the preparation of a revised schedule incorporating any amendments required by the Project Manager.
• Prepare combined co-ordinated building services installation drawings and combined builder’s work drawings fully detailing all the building services installations, plant and equipment forming part of the building services installations or installed by utility undertakings or installed by Specialist Contractors employed direct by the Client showing the inter-relationship of all the building services installations, plant and equipment.
• Prepare “as built” drawings for each building services installation and “as built” combined co-ordinated building services installation drawings fully detailing all the building services installations, plant and equipment forming part of the building services installations or installed by utility undertakings showing the inter-relationship of all the building services installations, plant and equipment.
• Plan, monitor and co-ordinate on the submission schedule and submission of drawings, equipment, materials, samples, reports, programme, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning procedures, testing and commissioning record, spare part list, and the like.
• Liaise, communicate and co-ordinate with different parties to carry out the building services works and the interfacing works in accordance with the programme including utility companies, Government departments, Client’s contractors, if any, Subcontractors, suppliers, and the like.
• Monitor and check all site matters related to building services works and take action or inform relevant parties to take action to resolve the problem.
• Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the site testing and commissioning works for building services works.
• Plan, co-ordinate and monitor the installation programme, the milestone dates of utility connection and authority inspection and installation sequence.
• Co-ordinate, provide solutions and attend meetings with relevant parties including designer, Design Checker, resident building services engineer and building services inspector for resolving problems arising from the site co-ordinations of building services works.
• Co-ordinate and attend regular and ad hoc meetings.
• Co-ordinate any other duties in connection with site construction work activities.

Qualifications

The Building Services Co-ordinator (building services works and builder’s works in connection therewith) shall be a corporate member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers or an institute of equivalent standing in a relevant discipline. In addition, the Building Services Co-ordinator (building services works and builder’s works in connection therewith) shall have (i) 10 years working experience in the field of building services; and (ii) 5 years’ relevant experiences in building services co-ordination in building projects. The Building Services Co-ordinator shall be appointed as the leader of the building services co-ordination team for this contract, and shall be engaged full-time on Site to co-ordinate the design and installation of all the building services, electrical and mechanical services works including builder works in connection therwith and specialist works when works are in progress. (elected after 5 December 1975) in building services, electrical or mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent. In addition, the building services co-ordinator shall have minimum 5 years’ relevant working experience in building services co-ordination, over the past 10 years’ working experience in building services installations.
