Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) invites a seasoned software leader to join the Application team responsible for the design, implementation, and support of market systems for clearing and settlement. You will oversee system development, collaborate across IT, and guide a team across Hong Kong and Shenzhen to deliver robust, scalable platforms.

The role requires 10+ years of software experience and 5+ years in leadership, with strong Linux, cloud, and Java skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in software development, design, and production support for large-scale and/or mission-critical systems.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in leading a team of software developers.
• Solid knowledge of Linux, databases, CI/CD, and cloud technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Java, SQL, and shell scripting.
• Demonstrated skills in vendor management, vendor evaluation, and vendor system integration, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
• Experience in React and modern front-end development, Apache Kafka and event-driven architecture, and API security standards (OAuth 2.0) are advantageous.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; strong analytical mindset and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for system development and project implementation activities, including business requirement analysis, resource and vendor management, application development, and documentation.
• Design and develop systems using modern technologies, such as cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with teams across IT departments on various aspects of projects.
• Provide production system support.
• Lead and develop a group of software developers in Hong Kong and China, including Shenzhen.
• Undertake any other assignments and projects as assigned by the supervisor.
