Job summary

Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd (HKEX) invites an experienced senior software engineering leader to drive the design, development and production support of market systems for clearing and settlement. The role oversees a team across Hong Kong and Shenzhen, with emphasis on Java, SQL, Linux, and cloud platforms.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years in software development, 5+ years leading teams, and strong collaboration across IT departments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 10 years of software development, design, and production support for large-scale or mission-critical systems.
• Minimum 5 years of experience leading a team of software developers.
• Solid knowledge of Linux, databases, CI/CD, and cloud technologies.
• Strong programming skills in Java, SQL, and shell scripting.
• Experience in vendor management, vendor evaluation, and vendor system integration, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Advantage: React front-end development, Kafka/event-driven architecture, API security standards (OAuth 2.0).
• Good analytical mindset, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
• Proficient in SDLC and documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for system development and project implementation, including requirements analysis, resource and vendor management, development, and documentation.
• Design and develop systems using modern technologies, including cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with IT teams across projects and provide production system support.
• Lead and develop a group of software developers in Hong Kong and China (Shenzhen).
• Undertake projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Summary

The Application team is responsible for the design, implementation, and application support of HKEX's market systems for clearing and settlement. The team consists of specialized members with in-depth technology expertise to support the ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, enhancements, and development of next-generation HKEX platforms.

Job Duties

• Responsible for system development and project implementation activities, including business requirement analysis, resource and vendor management, application development, and documentation.


• Design and develop systems using modern technologies, such as cloud platforms.


• Collaborate with teams across IT departments on various aspects of projects.


• Provide production system support.


• Lead and develop a group of software developers in Hong Kong and China, including Shenzhen.


• Undertake any other assignments and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

• Good analytical mindset, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently.


• Proficiency in SDLC methodology and documentation.


• Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical mindset and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
