Job summary

HKEX is seeking a senior engineer in the Markets Systems team to deliver first-in-class trading, market data dissemination and surveillance systems for cash and derivatives markets in Hong Kong. You will drive architecture design, development, testing and implementation of mission-critical platforms.

Collaboration with infrastructure and cyber security teams is essential. You will lead the full software development lifecycle, own incident resolution, and manage complex stakeholder relationships

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in system design and development, ideally in banking/financial services.
• Strong interest in technologies and ability to quickly grasp new tech in detail.
• Proven track record delivering projects with complex stakeholders.
• Experience in designing and developing low-latency, high-throughput systems.
• Solid resiliency design for high availability.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, communication and people management skills.
• Hands-on coding experience in Java, C++, Python, or web/network programming.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop low-latency exchange trading and surveillance platforms for cash and derivatives markets.
• Collaborate with user divisions to define solutions based on business use cases.
• Take full ownership and accountability of project delivery.
• Lead investigation and resolution of production incidents.
• Manage projects with complex stakeholders, including regulators and external parties.
• Assess technological risk and drive mitigation actions.
• Collaborate with technology teams on cross-system initiatives.
• Drive technical excellence across teams and ensure policy compliance.
