Job summary

HSBC Holdings plc is seeking an Associate in Structured Banking to drive debt structuring and financing solutions for corporate clients in Hong Kong. You will support Deal Captains across pitching, structuring, negotiation, credit approval and legal documentation.

The role requires strong financial modelling, credit risk acumen and familiarity with LMA/APLMA documents, plus excellent English and Mandarin. Cantonese is preferred and Excel/PowerPoint skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support sustainable revenue growth through understanding customer needs with a solution-based debt structuring approach.
• Assist Deal Captains in origination and execution of debt financing transactions across pitching, structuring, negotiation, credit approval and legal documentation.
• Identify and manage risks in complex lending with due diligence, financial modelling and transaction structuring.
• Collaborate with Commercial Banking and Corporate & Institutional Banking to deliver holistic client solutions.
• Contribute to a rigorous credit approval process ensuring key risks are identified.
• Engage selectively with clients and other stakeholders to support transaction execution.
• Ensure adherence to operational risk standards and report any breaches per local procedures.

Job description

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as aAssociate, Structured Banking.

In this role you will:

• Support sustainable revenue growth through understanding customer needs and by adopting a solution-based approach to debt structuring
• Support Deal Captains in the team with the origination and execution of debt financing transactions, across pitching, structuring, negotiation, credit approval and legal documentation alongside legal counsel.
• Effectively identify and manage the risks associated with more complex lending through comprehensive due diligence, including financial modelling, and appropriate transaction structuring
• Collaborate with other Commercial Banking product areas and Corporate and Institutional Banking to deliver holistic solutions to clients
• Contribute to a comprehensive and efficient credit approval process at the various stages, ensuring all key risks have been identified and thoroughly considered
• Selective engagement with clients and other key stakeholders to support the transaction execution process
• Ensure adherence to all applicable operational risk standards and policies, reporting any breaches in accordance with local procedures

To be successful you will need:

• Strong understanding of the HSBC Commercial Banking products and how they are evolving to support our clients
• Solid corporate finance technical foundations spanning financial modelling, credit risk analysis, legal documentation and deal origination / pitching
• Deep understanding of the 3 core financial statements and how to interpret them
• Familiarity with LMA / APLMA legal documentation, including term sheets
• Experience in customer facing roles, including evidence of negotiating with clients to deliver mutually satisfactory outcomes
• Demonstrable experience in growing revenue through providing tailored solutions, and increasing new business
• Sound interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Keen interest in acquiring new relevant knowledge and innovating for growth
• Holding relevant certificates as required by local regulatory bodies
• Excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin
• Fluency in Cantonese is preferred
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint essential
