Job summary

Chow Tai Fook Life Insurance Company Limited is seeking a seasoned IFRS17 specialist to lead monthly IFRS17 reporting, analytics, and liaison with auditors and stakeholders. The role focuses on IFRS17/IFRS9 reporting, controls, and regulatory alignment within the Insurance sector in Hong Kong.

The ideal candidate has at least 5 years in insurance accounting or Big 4 audit, with Cantonese, English and Mandarin, and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
• 5+ years in insurance accounting or Big 4 audit.
• Knowledge of IFRS17/HKFRS 17 is essential.
• Strong MS Excel and Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly IFRS 17 reporting and financial analysis, including reconciliations, journal entries, and analytics.
• Collaborate with Actuarial and Financial Control on analyses and key drivers of IFRS 17 metrics.
• Participate in year-end closing and coordinate with external auditors.
• Provide guidance on IFRS 17, IFRS 9 and other financial reporting matters.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Support regulatory submissions to IA and other bodies.
• Assist in system changes and UAT for financial reporting tools.
• Work with IT to improve reporting processes and data quality.
• Develop team capability in reporting and system processes.
• Handle ad hoc requests.

Job description

This position is a key member of Financial Reporting Team. He or she will be primarily responsible for IFRS17 financial month-end closing, analytics, and liaising with all relevant parties.

What the role is?

• Perform monthly IFRS 17 reporting and financial analysis, including preparing reconciliations, journal entries, and analytic reports with team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with Group and accounting standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Actuarial and Financial Control Department on financial result analyses and key drivers of IFRS 17 metrics.
• Participate in year-end closing, including financial statements and reporting deliverables, and coordinate with external auditors for audit and review procedures.
• Provide technical accounting support and guidance on IFRS 17, IFRS 9 and other financial reporting matters.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, internal controls, Group policies, and regulatory requirements to maintain accuracy, integrity, and operational efficiency.
• Support Group financial reporting and regulatory submission, including but not limited to requirements from the Insurance Authority (IA), and other relevant regulatory bodies.
• Participate in the development of user requirements for financial reporting system changes, including identifying issues, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensuring timely resolution.
• Provide support with IT and other departments to identify and implement process or system improvements that enhance reporting efficiency and data quality.
• Effectively work with team members, fostering skill development in reporting and system-related processes.
• Handle Ad hoc requests directed by supervisors.

What we look for?

• 5+ Years Insurance accounting & finance or Big 4 Audit experience.
• Team player and stakeholder management experience in IFRS17 financial reporting role in life insurance company is preferrable.
• Bachelor’s degree or above with major in Finance or Accounting; HKICPA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding on IFRS17/ HKFRS 17 is essential.
• Strong system knowledge especially for Insurance related IFRS17 systems, and knowledge in end-to-end process workflow.
• Fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin.
• MS Excel, and general MS-Office skills are essential.
• Excellent verbal and written skills with an ability to create high quality written products that are comprehensive, accurate and tailored to the audience.
• Detail minded, responsible and proactively seek for solution.
