OOCL is seeking a senior data platform lead to drive end-to-end development, deployment and enhancement of a global data platform. You will integrate data from multiple sources, build models and ensure scalable databases and architectures, while delivering actionable insights for decision making.

The role requires at least 4 years of relevant experience, strong programming skills (Python/Java/Go), and expertise in MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.

• University degree in CS, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Java or Go.
• Hands-on experience in developing data platforms and understanding SDLC.
• Strong knowledge of data processing, integration, analysis and batch computation.
• Solid experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL; NoSQL knowledge is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork.
• Proficient English; Mandarin is an advantage.

Lead the end-to-end development and implementation of the company’s data platform, including requirements analysis, architecture design, coding, testing, iterative development, deployment, and ongoing enhancement. Deliver full-stack solutions to ensure the platform operates reliably and efficiently

Process and integrate data from multiple business sources, including data collection, cleansing, integration, transformation, and structuring. Address data fragmentation, duplication, and inconsistency, and establish standardized data structures to support business operations and decision-making

Perform in-depth data analysis and computation. Develop data models and analytical solutions aligned with business needs, including performance metrics, statistical analysis, trend analysis, and anomaly detection. Translate data into actionable insights to support business improvement and decision-making

Design, develop, optimize, and maintain databases independently. Plan database architecture, schemas, indexes, and storage strategies according to business and data-volume requirements. Perform routine maintenance, backup, troubleshooting, and performance tuning to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient data access

Continuously enhance the data platform by developing new features, addressing system vulnerabilities and technical issues, and improving the efficiency of data processing, computation, and querying to meet evolving business needs

Provide data and technical support to business teams, including ad hoc data queries, analysis, reporting, and data extraction, and deliver practical data solutions in response to business requirements

Requirements:

University graduate in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline

Minimum 4 years of relevant experience

Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java or Go

Hands-on experience in developing data platforms and a good understanding of system architecture and the software development lifecycle

Strong knowledge of data processing, integration, analysis and batch computation

Solid experience with relational databases, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL, including database design, schema development, index optimization, migration, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of NoSQL databases is an advantage

Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, project execution and teamwork skills

Experience in independently delivering enterprise-grade data platforms or data systems is preferred

Good command of spoken and written English, Mandarin is an advantage
