Responsibilities

• Support or manage marine insurance accounts and client relationships.
• Prepare quotations, placement slips, schedules, cover notes and policies.
• Analyse client insurance needs and propose suitable coverage.
• Structure and place insurance with insurers and P&I clubs.
• Maintain client records and underwriting data.
• Coordinate with clients, insurers and internal stakeholders for service delivery.
• Assist with claims handling with the Claims Department.
• Monitor market developments and opportunities in marine insurance.
• Contribute to process improvements and compliance initiatives.
• Participate in business development and strategic projects.

Established in 2025, Cambiaso Risso Hong Kong Limited is an independent risk consultant and insurance and reinsurance broker highly specialised in Marine Insurance. The Hong Kong entity is part of the Cambiaso Risso Group and plays a key role in supporting clients across Asia from our Wanchai office.

Start-up Context

This position is based in a newly established office. You will contribute to setting up processes, ensuring operational excellence, and providing multi-role support typical of a start-up environment.

Responsibilities

As an Account Handler / Manager, you will support the placement and servicing of Marine Insurance business, working closely with clients, insurers, underwriters and internal stakeholders. Depending on your experience and seniority, you may support senior colleagues in policy administration and account servicing, or independently manage client portfolios, insurance placements and broking activities. You will contribute to delivering high-quality client service, supporting business growth and maintaining operational excellence in a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.

Mainly but not limited to:

• Support or manage marine insurance accounts and client relationships.


• Prepare and review quotations, placement slips, schedules, cover notes, endorsements, policies and related insurance documentation.


• Analyse client insurance requirements and risk exposures and identify appropriate insurance solutions.


• Structure, negotiate and place insurance coverage with insurers, underwriters and P&I Clubs.


• Maintain accurate client records, underwriting data and documentation.


• Liaise with clients, insurers and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient policy administration and service delivery.


• Support claims handling activities in collaboration with the Claims Department.


• Monitor market developments, emerging risks and business opportunities within the marine insurance industry.


• Contribute to process improvement, operational efficiency and compliance initiatives.


• Participate in business development activities, strategic projects and other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Insurance, Maritime Studies, Business, Law or a related discipline.


• Experience in marine insurance, insurance broking, underwriting, claims or a related insurance role is advantageous.


• Candidates with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply.


• Experience working with shipowners, charterers, underwriters or P&I Clubs will be an advantage.


• Knowledge of marine insurance including coverage for vessels, cargo, maritime liabilities, income losses, and P&I insurance and global market dynamics.


• Analytical skills to assess risks and identify coverage solutions.


• Fluency in English; Cantonese required; Mandarin is a plus.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word).


• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Compliance & Licensing

• HK Insurance Intermediaries Qualifying Examination (IIQE) – Paper 1 & 2 required or willingness to obtain within 6 months (company sponsorship and study leave provided).


• Candidates must have the legal right to work in Hong Kong; visa sponsorship may be considered.
