Principal Landscape Architect | Remote | Permanent | up to £45,000

ESP is a boutique, industry-leading environmental consultancy based in the West Midlands, proudly delivering nationally recognised work across rural, mineral, and large-scale development sectors.

Now, in partnership with PT Renewables, ESP is seeking a Principal Landscape Architect to join the talented team - someone ready to work at the forefront of landscape resilience, biodiversity net gain, and habitat creation.

Why ESP?

As an accredited IEMA Training Centre, they are proud to nurture the next generation of consultants through expert-led, high-quality courses.

ESP also believe that people do their best work when they’re supported, heard, and valued. That’s why they created Thrive – an internal wellbeing initiative focused on both mental and physical health.

From annual one-to-one wellbeing assessments to team-wide support systems and flexible working, Thrive ensures every team member can flourish, personally and professionally.

What You’ll Do

As Principal Landscape Architect, you’ll lead the delivery on landscape planning and design projects from inception to completion. You’ll work with a diverse range of clients and contribute to nationally significant schemes, with responsibilities including:

  • Conducting site appraisals, surveys, and early-stage research.
  • Creating masterplans, concept designs, restoration strategies, and detailed development proposals.
  • Delivering Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs)
  • Supporting the delivery of Biodiversity Net Gain strategies and habitat creation.
  • Advising local planning authorities on landscape and visual considerations for proposed developments.
  • Contributing to planning inquiries, including the preparation of expert evidence.
  • Leading projects across rural and major development contexts.

About you

  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (or an experienced Pathway candidate)
  • Strong design, assessment, and report writing skills
  • Background delivery on rural environments, minerals and waste sectors
  • Confident in managing projects independently
  • Collaborative mindset with a drive to innovate and improve
