Job summary
A professional services firm in Saffron Walden seeks an experienced individual to prepare statutory and year-end accounts, manage client relationships, and support team operations. Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience in a practice setting, be AAT qualified or equivalent, and have excellent IT and communication skills. The purpose of this role is to work closely with the Manager to ensure a high level of service and quality work is delivered to a varied and interesting client base.
- Preparation and completion of statutory accounts, year-end accounts and rental accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
- Dealing with a varied client portfolio (T/O up to £2million) including OMBs, property investors, property developers, agricultural, retail etc.
- Preparation of corporation tax returns and personal tax returns
- Preparation of monthly or quarterly management accounts including forecasting and budgeting
- Provide task support to fellow team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance
- Liaising with internal and/or third party external outsourcing
- Finalising accounts under the overall control of the Manager
- Organise your flow of work, allocating your assignments and managing your time as necessary taking into consideration your client deadlines and other constraints
- Ensure work is completed within agreed time and budget
- Liaise with third parties as required (HMRC, mortgage brokers, other members of your team, payroll bureau, etc)
- Develop and maintain effective client relationships, including attending client premises as required and client meetings
- Dealing with general incoming client queries and escalating when required
- Identify cross selling opportunities
- Opportunity to be involved in ad-hoc client projects
- AAT qualified or Qualified by experience.
- At least 5 years of experience gained in a practice setting
- Up to date statutory accounts knowledge and sound accounting, corporate/personal tax and VAT technical knowledge is required
- Experience of preparing management accounts (to include forecasting and budgeting)
- Must possess a client focused attitude and have proven experience of building and maintaining relationships with clients
- Experience of working with a variety of clients.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Xero, SAGE, IRIS, QuickBooks and FreeAgent.
