A veterinary practice in Chester is seeking an experienced veterinary surgeon. The role offers a competitive salary around £60,000 and focuses on routine surgeries with an emphasis on dentistry, cardiology, or laparoscopy. Chester is a well-known historical city in the Northwest of England, renowned for its Roman city walls, 2-tier shopping streets and offers the best of both worlds with a bustling city centre whilst be surrounding by beautiful countryside. It is also less than an hour from both Liverpool and Manchester. The practice itself is located on the outskirts of the city centre to the north and is easily accessible via local transport routes.
The team is currently made up of 7 vets, 7 RVN’s and 3 receptionists who are led by our practice manager. Within the clinical team we have a variety of different interests, which would allow you to join the practice and gain a wealth of knowledge unavailable at other practices. Our caseload is varied with a high proportion of insured pets and proactive clients.
As a team we enjoy socialising outside of work, whether that be sporting or charity events, long dog walks, conquering the escape rooms or just drinks in the pub, which we find helps with the togetherness of the team.
We are ideally looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon who is confident with routine surgery and consults. An interest in Cardiology, dentistry or laparoscopy would be an advantage but is not essential. We are looking for you to join us on a full-time basis, but we can consider different hours and are open to discuss how this would work. Ideally you will also be open to or learning and working with AI.
We work Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6:30pm and Saturday mornings 9am to 12:30pm (Saturdays will be worked on a 1 in 5 basis. With no OOH or Sundays.
On a day-to-day basis we have a tightly structured diary to ensure that all our colleagues finish on time, which includes dedicated phone call and paperwork time and fully blocked out lunch breaks. We run 20-minute sick pet consults, and we have nurses on hand all day to assist in consults as needed, whilst also having sufficient nursing cover to provide full nurse consults for pets and owners throughout the day.
