A healthcare trust in the UK is seeking a full-time Specialty Doctor in Adult Mental Health to work on Beech Ward. This permanent post involves participating in multidisciplinary teams, producing reports, and providing medical treatment in line with local and national guidelines. Applications are invited for a full-time Specialty Doctor in Adult Mental Health, working on Beech Ward in Sherwood Oaks Hospital. This is a permanent post.
The Trust delivers training as part of the North School of Psychiatry, East Midlands Healthcare Workforce Deanery. The Head of School for Health Education East Midlands is Dr Debasis Das. The Trust's Director of Medical Education is Dr Kehinde Junaid, responsible for the delivery of education to doctors at all levels.
Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
Beech ward has 18 female beds on Beech ward. SAS duties will be shared with the other SAS Dr on the ward. The postholder is also expected to participate in MDTs and Board Reviews, to work collaboratively with other teams (both inpatient and community teams) within the Trust, to use the Mental Health Act, as appropriate, within the course of their duties and in line with professional skills and qualifications, to prepare reports for Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers Hearing, to provide medical treatment within an MDT model and use evidence-based treatment and to follow local and national guidelines.

It is envisaged that the post holder will work 10 programmed activities over 5 days. Following appointment there will be a meeting at no later than three months with the clinical manager to review and revise the job plan and objectives of the post holder.
The overall split of the programmed activities is 8 to be devoted to Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 to Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) as per the Royal College of Psychiatrists recommendation.
The 8 programmed activity for DCC will entail supporting the MDT, Ward Reviews, Senior Reviews of newly admitted patients, working closely with resident doctors based on Beech Ward, mental health act work.
The 2 programmed activity for SPA can be used for CPD, audit, teaching, research, courses, management, and service development which will be identified through job planning. Specific programmed activity may be agreed in line with both individual and service need.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
