The post holder will provide a specialist, flexible psychology service to adult clients who are rough sleeping or street homeless in the North Hub (Barnet, Enfield & Haringey) of North London Foundation Trust (NLFT).

Providing clinical consultation, supervision and training to homelessness services across the North Hubs, this will include direct outreach work, providing psycho‑social therapies/interventions to support individuals experiencing street homeless.

To deliver direct clinical work including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

To contribute to contract report, service evaluation, audit and research to support future service commissioning and the development of new models of best practice.

Working in collaboration with other services to deliver care and interventions, based on clinical need, that identify mental and physical health conditions of the service user.

Providing interventions to support people to move off the streets and to facilitate them to sustain a more settled lifestyle. Signposting on to the most appropriate mainstream service and provide ongoing support until accepted and engaged with services.

To provide a high level of clinical expertise in supporting the psychological needs of rough sleepers in NLFT areas, South or North boroughs, including those with histories of complex trauma, personality disorder and addiction.

To provide highly specialist assessment and clinical formulation to clients and staff working within the team supporting those clients.

To select and administer specialist psychological assessments and clinical psychometrics (including specialised psychometric assessment, neuropsychological assessment, self‑report measures, as appropriate), structured observations, clinical interviews, and to interpret and integrate this highly complex data.

Application of practitioner level knowledge of at least two models of psychological therapy and knowledge of the theoretical and evidence base for them.

Delivery of skills‑based interventions or other relevant evidence‑based models.

To provide psychosocial support to clients who are emotionally distressed either due to the serious consequence of their illness or due to other events in their lives.

North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) is committed to improving mental health care across North London to deliver excellent services to our local people.

Our Five‑Year Strategy
  1. We will provide consistently high‑quality care closer to home.
  2. With our partners in North London and each borough we will ensure equity of outcome for all.
  3. We will offer great places to work, providing staff with a supportive environment to deliver outstanding care.
Why NLFT?
  • We develop and retain our staff through leadership behaviours and managers programme and many more opportunities.
  • We promote flexible working and support staff with a range of health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • NHS Discounts, generous annual leave and NHS pension scheme.
  • Excellent internal staff network.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

To ensure services are fair and equitable and meet the needs of the diverse populations we support, including racial diversity and factors affecting access to mental health care.

To formulate psychological treatment plans which are specific to each client based upon an analysis of complex factors contributing to the presentation, and selectively drawing on appropriate conceptual and theoretical models. This includes supporting other professionals and support staff in their development of such formulations and treatment plans.

To select and deliver evidence‑based specialist psychological treatments, monitoring outcome and modifying and adapting interventions, drawing on a range of theoretical options.

To work as an autonomous professional within Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and British Psychological Society (BPS) guidelines and the policies and procedures of the service, taking full responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions.

To liaise with other professionals concerned with clients in order to develop and review care plans, including MDT, Outreach, third sector, GP, Referrer, Public Health England and other relevant professionals.

To be responsible for implementing a range of interventions for individuals, groups families and carers, adjusting and refining psychological formulations, drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

To assess and monitor risk and draw up appropriate risk management plans.

To be responsible for drawing up behavioural guidelines for management of difficult behaviours within the hostels, assessment centre and outreach services, together with MDT partners and support staff in the implementation.

To advise other members of the team and partner services on specialist psychological care of clients.

To provide specialist psychological advice and consultation to other members of staff, and to clients to assist in formulation diagnosis and treatment plans when required.
