We now have a position open for a proactive and commercially astute Engineering Buyer at our head office inEastwood, Nottingham, UK.This is a key position in ensuring the cost-effective and timely sourcing of components, raw materials, and services to support our engineering and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and purchase materials, engineered components, parts, packaged equipment, services and logistics in line with project requirements and company procurement strategy.
- Build and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers to ensure consistent supply and competitive pricing.
- Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications to procure the correct items.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms of business.
- Create BOM’s, raise purchase orders and maintain accurate records in the ERP system (SAP Business One).
- Work closely with engineering, production, and project teams to meet delivery schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance and manage quality or delivery issues as required.
- Support cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a purchasing/procurement role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems – SAP Business One experience desirable.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards) is an advantage.
