Job summary

The Children’s Society is seeking a Sessional Shop Assistant for our Cumbria shops (Cockermouth base) on a zero hours, fixed-term contract initially for 6 months.

You will support shop management, deliver friendly customer service, handle occasional volunteering partners, and may travel between Cockermouth, Keswick and Whitehaven. Hours vary week to week.

Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are advantageous; DBS checks apply.

Qualifications

• Retail experience with a can-do approach.
• Good communication skills and a flexible, customer-focused approach.
• Willingness to travel between Cumbria shops and work across locations.

Responsibilities

• Support shop management to deliver excellent customer service and maximise income.
• Lead and work with volunteers when management is absent.
• Cover shifts across all Cumbria shops as needed.
• Travel between Cockermouth, Keswick and Whitehaven as required.
