A local wildlife organization is offering a week-long unpaid work experience opportunity for young people ages 10-13 at Allestree Park in Derby. Participants will engage in various conservation-based careers through hands-on workshops, including habitat management and surveying. This week is designed to enhance their skills and understanding of wildlife conservation, encouraging a greener future. The program runs from May 11th to May 15th, 2026, and requires daily attendance from 9.30 AM to 3.00 PM.

Our Work Experience Week enables you to get hands‑on with real projects that enhance wildlife and restore habitats. From exploring nature reserves to learning how we care for species and ecosystems, you’ll discover the skills and careers that make a difference for our planet. This is your chance to experience life behind the scenes at a locally based wildlife organisation. Giving you a chance to play your part in creating a greener future.
We are offering 20 young people (yrs 10-13) the opportunity to take part in a week‑long work experience placement at Allestree Park. During the week, you will get the opportunity to experience a range of conservation based careers through hands‑on workshops with our staff. The whole week will be spent outdoors working on the site trying out practical habitat management, surveying, engagement, communications and much more.
Participants will need to be able to travel to Allestree park and be on site 9.30-3.00 each day. They will need to bring clothes appropriate for the weather plus packed lunch and drinks for the day.
The dates are from 11th - 15th May 2026.
