Job summary

Barnardo's in Aberdeen is seeking a Children & Young People’s Project Worker to support children, young carers and their families across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. You will build trusting relationships, provide emotional and practical help, and work flexibly to meet needs in the community.

The role requires evening/weekend availability and a willingness to travel within the region to engage with young people and families.

Qualifications

Experience engaging and building relationships with children and young people.
Ensure children and young people's voices are at the heart of your work.
Provide emotional and practical support while maintaining professional boundaries.
Able to work evenings and weekends as an essential requirement.
Hold a current driving licence and travel across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire, including transporting young people when required.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one support to children and young people.
Plan and deliver engaging group sessions and activities.
Support brothers and sisters to maintain and strengthen their relationships.
Support young carers to have their needs identified and voices heard, including completing Young Carer Statements.
Work with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.
Raise awareness of the needs of young carers and siblings.
Work across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire to meet the needs of children, young people and families.
