Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to support pupils within Gloucester-based primary and secondary settings. You will work with teachers to boost wellbeing, confidence, and learning outcomes, focusing on social and emotional development.

Ideal candidates have backgrounds as Teaching Assistants, Youth Workers, or Behaviour Mentors, with strong communication skills and a compassionate, resilient approach. This temporary role offers DBS checks and safeguarding training.

Qualifications

• Experience with children or young people in school, youth work or community settings.
• Understanding of challenges facing young people with additional needs or social and emotional needs.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who require additional support.
• Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions.
• Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
• Assist teachers in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Help pupils remain engaged in lessons and achieve their learning goals.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.
• Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and self-esteem.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate records of mentoring sessions, progress, and interventions.
• Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people in line with safeguarding policies.

Are you passionate about supporting pupils with their social & emotional development?

We are looking for a passionate, dedicated, and resilient Youth Mentor to join a lovely school based in Gloucester, providing support to children and young people within primary and secondary school settings. Working alongside teachers and school staff, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve their wellbeing, and develop the confidence and skills they need to succeed both academically and personally.

This role is ideal for someone with experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach or in a similar child-focused support role.
