Job summary

Essex County Council is hiring a Youth Support Worker in Training in Basildon. You will work with local youth teams to deliver community-based activities while gaining a formal Youth Support Worker Level 3 qualification.

The role requires evenigs and weekend availability, a driving license, and the ability to travel across south Essex. On-the-job training accompanies paid employment with a salary of £25,580 plus Fringe Allowance.

Qualifications

• Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English required; Level 2 by EPA by end of apprenticeship.
• Must be mobile across an operational area and have access to a vehicle or equivalent mobility.
• Commitment to completing on-the-job training and a Level 3 Youth Work qualification.

Responsibilities

• Work face to face with young people as part of a team and progress toward your qualification.
• Identify community needs and help develop youth work activities in Basildon and surrounding areas.
• Support youth clubs, engage volunteers, and promote inclusive participation.
• Deliver or assist in youth work programmes including residential activities.
• Adhere to safeguarding guidelines and complete required training within 18 months.
