Job summary

Essex County Council is offering a Youth Support Worker in Training role based in Basildon, Essex. The apprenticeship combines paid work with a formal Youth Support Worker Level 3 qualification, with on-the-job learning and support from an experienced team of youth workers across Basildon, Brentwood, Rochford and Castle Point.

Qualifications

• Be passionate about supporting young people.
• Have a good level of numeracy and literacy (Grade C GCSE or equivalent).
• Experience of working with young people and communities is an advantage.
• Be able to undertake evening, weekend and residential work as required to meet service needs.

Responsibilities

• Identify areas of need and opportunities within the community for youth work programmes.
• Negotiate with young people and communities on involvement in planning and evaluation.
• Contribute to and promote programmes to ensure accessibility for all.
• Involve young people in decision-making and community responsibilities.
• Deliver or support youth work programmes, including residential experiences.
• Participate in supervision and staff development; complete required training within 18 months.
