Job summary

Chester Zoo in the United Kingdom is seeking a Youth Volunteering Officer to join the Conservation Education and Engagement Directorate. You will coordinate a programme for 14-25 year olds, recruit and mentor volunteers, and deliver practical conservation, visitor engagement and social action projects.

With the Volunteer Manager, you will recruit Youth Champion Volunteers, support inclusive participation, monitor engagement, and help run Environmental Leadership courses and youth network events.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people.
• Experience coordinating, supporting or working with volunteers.
• Experience delivering training/workshops to diverse audiences.
• Strong organisational, administrative and planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver youth volunteering opportunities for 14–25 year-olds, including practical conservation, visitor engagement and social action projects.
• Recruit, induct, train and support youth volunteers and Youth Champion Volunteers.
• Work to reduce barriers to participation and provide tailored support for diverse backgrounds.
• Coordinate youth-led conservation and community action projects and evidence learning outcomes.
• Deliver volunteer events, training sessions and networking opportunities for youth volunteers.
