Job summary

The Conservation Volunteers is seeking a Senior Project Officer to lead volunteers across a range of practical environmental tasks, including tree planting, pond work and woodland management. You will also support habitat work across reserves, recruit volunteers, and liaise with schools and landowners to develop and cost projects.

Applicants should have hands-on environmental experience and strong volunteer management skills, with driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Qualifications

• Experience of practical environmental work and leading volunteers.
• Experience with volunteers, community involvement and charity/NGO sector.
• NVQ/HND/BTEC in environment or horticulture is helpful.
• Certificates of competence for equipment such as chainsaw, brushcutter or lawnmower are useful.

Responsibilities

• Lead volunteers on practical environmental projects (tree planting, pond construction, woodland management).
• Assist habitat management work across nature reserves and country parks.
• Promote TCV and recruit volunteers for projects.
• Liaise with schools, community groups and landowners to source projects, cost them, and agree timescales.
• Generate income through project work.
• Collect and maintain records and photos to document work and funder reports.
