Job summary

Kibble in Glasgow is seeking a Vocational Instructor to lead hands-on learning in areas such as horticulture, construction, mechanics, sustainability or enterprise. You will work within the Education Team to inspire and support young people aged 5-26, developing meta-skills and employability alongside technical qualifications.

The role emphasises adapting teaching to individual needs, safeguarding, health and safety, and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering vocational training or practical skills.
• Relevant qualifications in your discipline (e.g. horticulture, construction, mechanics).
• Experience in youth training and working with young people is essential.
• GTCS registration desirable, and not essential.
• Commitment to continuing professional development.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Possess a full driving licence and be willing to drive school transport.
• Competent in Microsoft Office Skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspire young people through practical, hands-on vocational learning experiences across disciplines.
• Deliver high-quality instruction in your specialist area (horticulture, construction, mechanics, sustainability, enterprise).
• Adapt learning to meet the individual needs of young people, supporting engagement and achievement.
• Prepare and deliver relevant qualification work/resource materials, and assess progress.
• Support the development of positive work behaviours, employability skills, and resilience.
• Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety.
• Contribute to wider Skills Academy projects and initiatives, including enterprise or community activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a consistent and supportive learning environment.
• Safeguard the health and safety of all young people and staff.
• Any other reasonable duties as required by The Skills Academy management team
